The Princess' Dolls

After Danny has ascended to the throne of the ghost king, something goes wrong with his clone Ellie. Her form destabilizes again, and when they stabilize her, she's physically only five or six years old.

Danny takes to watching her, but looking after a half ghost child is a lot harder than it looks, especially when Ellie learns duplication but can't seem to figure out how to undo it for hours on end, and each clone gets bored really fast. To counter this, Danny makes Ellie a set of dolls, all modeled after the Justice League and various related figures. He even uses a special enchantment he learned to make sure the dolls stay intact no matter what Ellie puts them through.

Ellie loves the dolls and she and her clones have a tendency to put together large productions using them, ranging from superhero fights to sitcom stories to fairy tales to a few 'things' Ellie remembered reading online before she was de aged.

Meanwhile, almost every single Justice League member has been noticing some oddities as of late. They can hear voices from no where, they feel like something is touching them when there is nothing, their muscles sometimes spasm without cause. And, on occasion, they find themselves sleepwalking as they dream of a giant telling a story.

No one brings this to the attention of the other members until several members get knocked out on a mission, only for their unconscious forms to start acting out a play.

(Or Danny accidentally makes several Justice League Voodoo dolls and a young Ellie keeps playing with them)

i need to talk about this line here for a second, because it's an attack on me personally. but not the english translation of it, no, it's the og thai line that really gets to me. because he says:

มันโอเค​นะเว้ย ที่จะมีความรักอ่ะ [man - oh-keh - ná wóiie • thêe - jà - mee kwaam rák - àh] it - okay - [particle] • that - will - be in love - [particle]

he specifically uses the term มีความรัก which is more like "to be in love". which means rather than "it's okay to love", this line is more accurately translated as:

It's okay to be in love.

and as someone who really really really struggles with self-acceptance for my own romantic feelings for others, this distinction is really important to me. i can deal with loving others. i love my family. i love my best friend (you really don't go here but hiiii @magsimags i love youuuu 😘 (i know you're rolling your eyes reading this as usual)(i don't care)(i love you)). i love my other close friend. i love my summer camp gang. i love my friend that style reminds me of. i love each and every single one of the friends i've made in this fandom over the past few years (you know who you are 💖). i KNOW it's okay to love. i do it all the time. loudly. as evidenced by the fact that i just HAD to tag my best friend in this post to publically tell her i love her even though she really doesn't care about my thai blorbos, just because i really couldn't NOT tag her to tell her i love her. anyway. i can love. loving is fine.

but to be in love??? that's a whole different story. having (in my case romantic) feelings for someone feels like a heavy burden. it feels humiliating. i hate it. i don't want it. it stresses me out. and the person i have feelings for especially can't ever know about it. see, i will talk about my crushes/romantic feelings, but mostly to family and friends (the better they know the person i have feelings for, the harder it gets for me to admit to it), and even then the word "be in love" won't ever come out of my mouth in my native language. in english it's easier, but in my native language i just can't say it. it feels heavy. it makes me cringe. being in love is horrible.

so when style said "it's okay to be in love" specifically? that was a punch to my gut. because this is a truth i have not yet managed to accept for myself. and if the person i had feelings for specifically told me "it's okay to be in love" so firmly and so earnestly? yeah, i would crumble too

Something about a Pygmalion take on Jaceporter is so appealing to me… in that way that Porter reveres power and domination… the tension between his desire to seek out and keep a Jace as a perfect spineless compliant lackey vs a need to remake Jace in the image of someone who is powerful and dominant and assertive. Jace that is complacent and cowardly and passive is a Jace he can use and control but never respect, and he loves what that Jace can do FOR him. But as Jace is transformed by rage, a Jace who is furious and oppositional and autonomous and actualized and powerful and is able to stand in the face of Porter and tell him he cannot stay even if it means death is a Jace he can respect and maybe even admire but no longer control. In the same way Henry Higgins cannot truly make a Lady until she has outgrown him, (“Eliza you’re magnificent. 5 minutes ago you were a millstone around my neck and now you’re a tower of strength. A consort battleship. I like you this way Eliza” “goodbye professor Higgins”). Because conflict is at the heart of war, Porter cannot truly anoint a Saint of the God of War until Jace has outgrown him.

tonee, i am taking this opportunity to rant about the overlooked middle child of the album, tnms.

the entire thesis of wb! as an album has always been (imo) to live your fullest life because 1) there is still work to be done and 2) because it’s FUN. tnms is the biggest piece of evidence in regards to that second claim.

tnms says that all art is worth creating—not because all art is good, but because art can be relished by the creator. this song throws away the concept of perfection and replaces it with something way better: joy. especially coming from a musician who had just suffered such an iconic chart topping hit like tmtc, tnms means a lot because it’s giving, not only to himself, but to all of us, the permission to create for the sake of creating. not art for the sake of perfection or marketability or even originality. just art for the sake of art, because creation is one of the most human things in the world.

also, not to mention—the distorted voices in the last chorus belong to SEAMUS HEANEY and samples of children singing? that is amazing.

weirdly related to last post about ame selfcest but i was thinking about fr americest and it kept devolving to either of them eventually going "ok but one of us has to be the girl right".

i don't show or draw it much because i don't feel like it but i think ame has chronic gender brain but he doesn't like to think he does and i also feminize him too much. but i think he just by default thinks like this. even in girl ame this is why as far as i'd go with girlmerica is her being a tomboy. if she stopped the bullshit and got in a relationship with a woman her subconscious would be like "obviously i'm the 'girl' here because i'm good at playing roles. so by natural conclusion x is the 'guy'" okay well it depends on how much more feminine or masculine the other girl is actually but her brain works kind of rigidly on this like ok there's girl and boy archetypes and sometimes one acts like the other in "their own way" but actual breaches between that then ame is like well okay... we gotta restructure this... if i'm the girl now... or something like that. there is no overlap in her mind

i keep making him like a toxic girlfriend just because there's something wrong with me but also because. in my own crazy made up world. if he got in his own head that the role he needs to be playing is the more feminine role that's how he would behave(he's toxic no matter what). he's gonna get a form of control in some shape no matter what. his evil and abuse adapts. and i just like drawing fucked up feminine characters i guess idk

I think the most baffling thing about the Tulpar as a vessel to me is the fact that the ship really did only have a one way communication system.

I know it was cheap but even the most basic of vessels regarding major transport would have some way, shape or form for outside communication. Not only that but there was absolutely no form of innate emergency signal to show they may have been offline or in trouble despite clearly having a system to dock credits if they went off course. It's another factor that really shows that bad situations are made to get worse by design. One person who is required to relay all information to the crew and make all the choices without feedback. No way to update or call for help in case of a dire situation. No way to inform of inner personal conflicts and acquire procedures accordingly.

It really is like they are all in some sort of fucked up solitary confinement. They have their own world with strict roles that are meaningless in the end, as long as the cargo makes it, it doesn't matter what happens on that ship to the company. They don't want to hear anything and will come to conclusions on what happened based on how much pay they can withhold from the workers. Even what they do send is short, sterile and corporate to the extent it was likely written and sent out with a command by some random unmanned computer in an office.

There's something to be said about how unfair it is to force absolute power and control onto one person when you as an entity could do so much more to offload it but I've said it many times before so I won't again.

superman: lois lane #1

a very important part of lois lane’s character, in my opinion, is being an older sister. not only does that show us a more caring side of her whenever she interacts with lucy, but also explains why she is the way she is. she is over-competitive, confident and independent. she thinks she knows best (most time she does). she is a control freak and needs to have control over every situation at all times. those are all traits older siblings who had to look after their younger ones have. at the end of the day, that’s a big responsibility for such a young child so it’s obvious some unresolved trauma will carry over to adulthood.

lois lane is the perfect example of “oldest daughter syndrome” and i love her for it.
